Taormina

29 April, 2011

I have arrived here in Sicily after an eight hour train trip from Salerno. It was a very comfortable journey. I treated myself to a 1st class ticket (50 euros vs 40 euros for 2nd class).  Most of the trip the train was in sight of the sea (the  Tyrrhenian). The hostel (Gianni House) is great. Gianni is a very friendly host and I have the dorm room entirely to myself for a couple of nights. Walked down to the harbour this evening and had a nice meal at a restaurant looking out over the water: 1. Aperitivo (Campari and soda)  2. Risotto alla Marinara (clams and mussels) 3. Glass of local white wine 4. Cafe espresso.
